SKY LARKIN
The SiS Interview by Dany Sloan

Chapter four in our "Bands to Watch in 2008" series focuses on Leeds group Sky Larkin. Over the past couple of years, their buzz has grown in the most organic way, from friend to friend and from band to band. This unit has not forgotten about the DIY spirit of the '90s, as their sound and aesthetic resembles the best that Simple Machines and Dischord have brought to the table.

A couple weeks ago, we conferred with frontwoman Katie Harkin to get the forecast for 2008.

SIS: We've named you one of Stranded In Stereo's Bands to Watch in 2008. What is the first feeling or thought that comes to mind?

Katie Harkin : That the internet is vast and brings us to all sorts of places we've never physically been!

SIS:  What does 2008 have in store for you guys?

KH:  Meeting as many lovely people as we did in 2007, hopefully more. We're heading back to the studio in February, so there will be more fruits to share soon.

SIS: If any member of your band would be on the cover a tabloid, who would it be and what would it be for?

KH:  Definitely Doug. And not for his humanitarian work...

SIS: Who do you often find yourselves compared to, and do you like or dislike
that comparison?

KH: To be honest whenever we get compared to anyone its usually because that
person is trying to complement us, so even if I dont like that band, they might be of the highest regard in their frame of reference.

SIS:  What is your favorite and least favorite thing about being on the road?

KH:  The people we've met are definitely my favourite souvenirs, there's a certain gang fever that takes over when you're on tour with another band. My least favourite thing is getting cranky just because I'm tired.
